Day in a Life
Day in a Life
By Ariel Harmon
It was sunny day. The dog was whining and my Dad started to wake up.
It was 7:00 am. He started to make his bed. When he was done with that he took a shower. We all waited until he was done so he could he make us breakfast. My mouth watered as he cooked the eggs. The toast jumped out of the toaster. We all hurried and stuffed our mouths. My Dad started up the dishes. When he was done doing the dishes he went to the hall. I wondered what he was doing. Dad got something that was soft but hard…the broom. He started to sweep.
When he was done he went the laundry in. Diaper stench filled the air. After the laundry he went downstairs and got on the computer. He took forever. I heard him typing. He is working on his new project. A ding made me jump! His footsteps echoed through the house as he went to take out the laundry. He came upstairs and went to the kitchen. My stomach growled. I looked at my watch, it was 12:00. I watched him put turkey between two slices of my favorite type of bread. We all ate and my baby brother got all messy so my Dad went and bathed him. I almost broke my neck as I slipped on water.
Next my Dad went to the mailbox and picked up the mail. He grumbled, “Shoot! Bills — all bills.” He spends 2 hours on paying bills and stamping mail and he was not even done. Mom made him come up to go grocery shopping for the week. When he came home, my Dad went downstairs to fold the laundry and watch TV. I went to watch the TV too.
Awhile later, Mom called him up for dinner and we all ate. My brother, sister and I went to put on our pajamas and got ready for bed. Dad came in and read my favorite story which put us right to sleep. Once we all were asleep, Dad went back to the computer to finish the bills. (Mom said he was very mad at all the places our bills came from.) When he was finally done he went upstairs and went to sleep.
ZZZs filled the air.
